Anthea is an iOS app for couples: both partners answer the same short questions separately each day, and at the end of the week those answers become a written relationship analysis.

Anthea is an iOS app for couples, written by a practising psychologist and couples therapist. Both partners answer the same five short questions each day, separately; neither sees the other's answer until both have written. At the end of the week, those answers become a written analysis of that week.

Anthea is an iOS app for couples, made by Şehmus Nas, a psychologist and couples therapist in practice. Each day both partners answer the same five short questions on their own phones — about two minutes. Neither answer is visible until both have written, so that neither partner is anchored by the other's version. On the seventh day the week closes with one open question, and the pair's answers become a written analysis: what the week was about, a strength, something worth attention, a pattern, and one next step.
The library holds more than 1,300 questions across 45 clinical fields, drawing on six frameworks in couples psychology — Gottman, Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment theory, Sternberg, Chapman's love languages and positive psychology. Anthea publishes its method in full, including where the evidence behind each framework is weak. It can also be used alone, in which case the analysis is written in a different voice and claims nothing on an absent partner's behalf. Available in English and Turkish; one partner's subscription covers both.

Şehmus Nas is a psychologist and couples therapist, and the maker of Anthea. He writes about attachment, repair, and the distance between what one partner says and what the other hears.

Şehmus Nas is a psychologist and couples therapist in practice, and the sole maker of Anthea — he wrote the question library, designed the app and built it. He also works as a graphic artist, which is why Anthea looks the way it does rather than like a form. He writes on relationships at vonyela.com and lives in Istanbul.

Two things, stated carefully.
Answers are separated before they are compared. Both partners get the same question, and neither sees the other's answer until both have written. The weekly analysis is built from both sets of answers rather than from one person's account of the relationship. Most couples apps put the conversation first; Anthea puts two independent accounts first and compares them second.
The method is published, limits included. Anthea's method page documents all six frameworks it uses and cites the research that undercuts them — including a 2024 review finding no empirical support for the core claims behind love languages, a framework Anthea itself draws on. We are not aware of another app in this category that publishes the evidence against its own foundations.
What we would rather you did not write: that Anthea is the only couples app offering weekly insights. It isn't — several competitors have some form of it, and we checked before saying otherwise.
Worth getting right, because it is usually reported loosely. Every percentage and trend in a weekly report is computed deterministically in ordinary code from the answers — not by an AI model. A large language model then writes the prose around those already-fixed numbers; it cannot calculate or change a score. Free-text answers are sent to OpenAI's API to generate that text, and under OpenAI's API policy such data is not used to train their models. Anthea trains no model of its own on user answers and does not sell data. Daily answers are never shown to a partner until both have written.

Anthea can be reviewed alone — used solo, it writes the weekly analysis in a different voice, addressed only to you, and never claims anything on an absent partner's behalf. But paired is where it does the thing that makes it unusual, so if you can bring someone, do. Email [email protected] and you'll get free Premium access for two accounts, with no conditions attached and no expectation of a positive review. A full week of use is the shortest span that shows what the app actually does, since the analysis only arrives on day seven.
