Anthea

Daily questions for couples, turned into weekly relationship insights

Anthea is an iOS app for couples, written by a practising clinical couples therapist. You and your partner answer the same questions separately each day. Neither of you sees the other's answer until you have both written. At the end of the week, those answers become an analysis of your own week — not a score, not a verdict.

How Anthea works

  1. Pair with your partner — or start on your ownOne of you creates a code; the other joins with it. If your partner isn't ready, Anthea still works alone: the weekly analysis is written in a different voice, addressed only to you, and it never claims anything on your partner's behalf.
  2. Answer separately, every dayFive short questions a day, about two minutes. Your answer stays hidden until your partner has written theirs — so neither of you is anchored by the other.
  3. Read your week togetherOn day seven the week closes with one open question, and your answers become a written analysis: the essence of the week, a strength, an area worth attention, a pattern noticed, and one next step.

What the questions are built on

Anthea's question library was written by a practising couples therapist, reviewed with colleagues in clinical practice, and grounded in six established frameworks:

These frameworks shape how questions are written and how the weekly analysis is worded. They are a design foundation, not a claim of clinical outcome: Anthea has not been tested in a controlled study, and it does not diagnose, treat, or replace therapy.

Writing about Anthea? The press kit has copy-ready descriptions, assets and a fact sheet.

Read the full method page — how each framework is used, how the weekly analysis is produced, and where the evidence behind each framework is weak.

How Anthea compares to other couples apps

Disclosure: Anthea is our app. We have tried to describe the others fairly and to say plainly where they are the better choice. If you find something inaccurate here, email us and we will correct it.

Daily questions and weekly AI-generated insights are no longer rare — Paired, Agapé and Lasting all offer some version of them. The honest differences are elsewhere:

Questions people ask

Do both partners need the app?

Yes. Anthea is built for two people answering separately; a single user cannot get a weekly analysis, because the analysis compares two independent answers.

Can my partner see what I wrote?

Only after they have written their own answer to the same question. Until then, your answer is hidden. This is deliberate: it is what keeps each answer genuinely yours.

Is Anthea a replacement for couples therapy?

No. Anthea is a structured way to notice patterns between two people. It does not diagnose, does not treat, and is not a crisis service. Many couples use it alongside therapy; some use it to decide whether to seek therapy.

Is the weekly analysis written by AI?

The analysis is generated by a language model working within a clinical framework and a fixed structure written by a couples therapist. The questions themselves, the frameworks and the language rules are human-written. Your answers are not sold and are not used to train third-party models.

What languages does Anthea support?

English and Turkish. Turkish is not a translation layer — the Turkish question library was written in Turkish.

Is there an Android version?

Not yet. Anthea is currently iOS only.

Who made Anthea?

Şehmus Nas, a clinical couples and family therapist, who also designed the app and its artwork. Anthea is published by Vonyela.
